National Integrity Programme (NIP) 12-13 December 2009

Entrance to the Balai Raya
Twenty of us went to Pelegong Homestay in Labu for our NIP. At 7am on Saturday, we left Tanjung Malim for Labu in four cars and reached there at 10am. The villagers welcomed us with traditional music and instruments. In the Balai Raya, we were separated into seven foster families. The three guys are together while the remaining seventeen with their six foster families.
The Ketua Kampung and his AJKs easily remembered me and my name because I was the only Chinese guy in the group. They always looked for me to chat and also to kacau me and Mazni because we always stick to each other. They commended me for my fluency in Malay and also laced it with local accents to perfection. They wondered how I can speak in such degree of Malay language and dialects. I spent 13 years in national schools and have a lot of Malay friends. Jadi, tiada masalah untuk gua bertutur dalam Bahasa Malaysia dalam dialek Utara dan Perak. Mazni was equally favourite too among the villagers because she is bubbly, active and wacko. Her most obvious style is donning the cowboy hat. She is already popular in our class and always become the center of attraction among guys.

Bottom : Kasbun, Raziee and I riding on the motorcycle
I tried to be polite with my foster family because I am the only Chinese guy (there is another Chinese woman in my group). Every words and actions of mine were extremely careful as one mistake might make the people there not happy. I have no problem to mix with Malay people but I know my own shortcomings because this is the first time I stayed with a Malay family. I must say I failed badly when it comes to food. I have no qualms of eating Malay foods but not kampung foods. My foster family noticed that and accommodated to my problem by changing the menu. Both my foster parents are almost 80 years old. They were really nice and treated us like their own grandchildren.
I enjoyed my bath on two occasions after completed tiring activities under the hot sun.

Getting ready for river-trekking
Earlier of the day, the ketua kampung asked two of us to volunteer for an activity. My friends shouted my name tapi gua terus menolak tanggungjawab. It was for a traditional wedding ceremony later at night and they need two “sacrificial lambs” to be the groom and bride. Kasbun and Mazni volunteered themselves. Then, the ketua kampung wanted another two to be the pengapits. This time, I cannot escape as they want non-Malay to participate in the ceremony. So, Amanda and I were picked to be Mazni and Kasbun’s pengapit respectively.
2pm : We went to see how the kuih bahulu was made. Kami berpeluang mencuba sendiri cara-cara untuk membuat kuih bahulu. Then, we had the honour to eat the kuih bahulu yang baru sahaja keluar dari dapur. Hot and crispy.
I had a rough motorcycle ride around the village. The roads were really bumpy and I spent about 30 minutes on the bike with the village’s AJK. That uncle ride so fast and I held tightly at the back because I was quite scared with the motorcycle speed and also the road conditions.
3pm : It is river-trekking time. The route was treacherous with dangerous mountainous terrain throughout our journey. I brought my slipper along but langsung tak boleh digunakan kerana arus sungai adalah deras dan kuat. Wearing slipper will only create the drag effect besides making it heavier. Whatever problems related to the blood circulation in my body were neutralized with this natural reflexology treatment kerana dasar sungai itu dipenuhi dengan batu-batan yang pelbagai saiz. We took 90 minutes to reach the waterfall and by that time, most of us dah pancit. We spent about 30 minutes bermandi-manda di situ. To return to the Balai Raya, we used the land route which can be very steep at one time and flat on the other.
We had our tea break before continued practicing their traditional dance = Tarian Piring. We have to find a partner to practice it and memang susah untuk mempelajari tarian itu jika tangan dan kaki itu tak cukup ligat. My partner was Mazni. She mati-mati pun nak gua jadi teman dia dan tak nak Kasbun. Other than that, we also learnt another dance using the Jong Jong Inai song.
Lepas makan dan mandi di rumah keluarga angkat, the three guys including me, rested until 8pm.

As a photographer during the Caklempong & Kompang session
8pm : We went to the Balai Raya again. Kesemua kita, kecuali pasangan pengantin, belajar bermain caklempong dan kompang. Gua cuma belajar caklempong kerana dah hebat bermain kompang sejak di sekolah menengah lagi. Caklempong is a traditional musical instrument played during any big day in a village especially for wedding ceremony. Gua enjoyed ketuk tembaga yang digunakan itu untuk menghasilkan bunyi Do Re Mi dan juga lagu London Bridge..haha..On the other hand, Kasbun and Mazni were preparing for their wedding ceremony ala Minangkabau style with the help from the villagers.
9pm : The wedding ceremony of Kasbun and Mazni was a grand affair. The Ketua Kampung and their AJKs plus all the villagers came to give support to our programme. I have to put on the Baju Melayu and Kasbun borrowed his set to me. Mazni kept saying she always wanted me to be her pengantin lelaki but I replied no because nanti satu kelas akan bergosip pasal kita berdua. Kasbun naughtily asked Mazni what are their plans for the first night and whether she is in “good condition”. Mazni, in a no pushover reply, said she is more concerned about Kasbun’s physical ability and all of us burst into laughter.

Top : Pengapit lelaki bersama pengantin lelaki
Bottom : Me, Kasbun, Mazni Ezura the CowGirl and Amanda
Kasbun, Mazni, Amanda and I tak buat apa-apa pun di pelamin itu. We just sat there. Sekali sekala, the emcee will come to us and teased us with questions that can be quite sensitive and also embarrassing to answer. Mazni and I kena paling teruk from the emcee because she noticed both of us are very close to each other from the moment we reached the village. The Ketua Kampung gave his blessing to the fake couple and they were declared as husband and wife. Then we have performances from our own team and also the villagers. The ceremony ended at 11.30pm.
Day 2, 8.30am : After having breakfast with our foster family, my two coursemates and I went to the Balai Raya to meet up with the rest of the gang for Sukaneka. Most of us were lepak-ing around the field and looked for the tents for cover as it was really hot on that morning.

Top : With my partner-in-crime, Mazni Ezura the CowGirl. She wants me to be her groom on that morning
Bottom : Everyone is gearing up for the Futsal
10.30am : Futsal. Our group sent two teams to compete but both were knocked in quarterfinals by coin-tossing after they finished respective games in draws (2-2 and 0-0). We rooted for the second team led by Mazni because they are the most popular in UPSI last semester during the Hari Kokurikulum and finished runners-up. Mazni’s trademark is putting on her cowboy hat whenever they are playing. In Labu, she is so well-liked by the villagers there due to her style and personality. Di Labu, both teams tumbang angkara duit syiling yang dilambungkan untuk menentukan pemenang selepas masing-masing seri.

Memang takde bakat menganyam rotan! haha
12pm : We went back to the Balai Raya untuk mempelajari cara menganyam topi mini dengan menggunakan rotan. Gua memang tak ada bakat seni kerana teruk sekali rupa topi mini yang lebih mirip kepada bakul..haha..Tapi gua pun tak kisah kerana sekurang-kurangnya ia menjadi bakul mini yang comel! hehe

Playing with Mazni Ezura’s cowboy hat
1.30pm-2.30pm : All twenty of us went back to respective houses of our foster families. We had our last meal there and also showers before bidding farewell to them.
2.30pm : Kami pergi ke Balai Raya buat kali terakhir for the Closing Ceremony. Ia berupa majlis perpisahan dan kami gembira dapat berada di Homestay Pelegong.

Top : Receiving souvenirs from the village’s rep
Bottom : The almost complete group photo before departure!
3.30pm : Semua pun balik tapi secara berasingan. Ten of them went back to Tanjung Malim directly while another ten including me went to Seremban for sight-seeing. It is just like Ipoh but of course I like Ipoh more!
6pm : The remaining ten left Seremban for Tanjung Malim in two cars. I drove my coursemate’s Satria Neo 1.6 because he was knocked down by flu. Kami sangkut dalam kesesakan lalu lintas di lebuhraya PLUS from Seremban to KL. We reached Tanjung Malim at about 8.30pm. Gua seronok memandu Satria Neo tersebut kerana gua memecut sepanjang perjalanan terutamanya dari KL ke Tanjung Malim. At first, I was quite nervous to drive because I am too used to drive my own car and afraid that I might not get used to it. But I just took 5 minutes to settle down and it is all about a Schumacher-drive in Satria Neo..haha
Overall rating of my performance throughout the NIP : I would give myself 85% because I did quite well in terms of getting know the people there and also popularity. The only con was my failure to really get used to the kampung foods. Perhaps I should take a lesson from Siew Meyy on how to score perfectly when staying in other places and live in another culture. That girl experienced a lot of eye-opening adventures including the jungles of Borneo, Orang Asli settlements in Pahang and also the native tribes in Africa.
If given another chance, I would like to join to this kind of activity again. I really like the atmosphere and also the living condition of a kampung. I really learnt a lot from this programme.

TVB Sales Presentation 2010

In conjunction of its Anniversary Awards Night, TVB also produced the Sales Presentation video that showcased the dramas that will be and could be broadcasted in its station for the following year. This tradition started in the early 2000s to identify potential dramas with blockbuster or anniversary drama statuses, potential actors and actresses that can be roped in for certain dramas and more importantly for potential sponsors to place their products in TVB dramas. A reminder here is that the dramas shown in TVB Sales Presentation are less than the total that will be aired in the following year where usually only about 10-15 dramas are inserted the video when actually in a year, TVB can easily broadcast 20-30 dramas with three drama slots from 8pm until 10.30pm. Some dramas shown in the Presentation have wrapped up its filming and only waited for the right timing to be aired. Dramas that are in production stages will also be shown in the Presentation despite the end product are still not there yet. Not to forget that there were also dramas that only served as potentially to be made for the following year but sometimes it can be pushed forward to another year due to various factors and also can be totally missing from the production due to lack of full scripts or artistes. Nevertheless, there are also dramas with total differences in terms of title or themes despite the similarities can still be spotted in certain angles such as the drama The Master of Tai Chi where it also contained other issues that I highlighted above. In the TVB Sales Presentation 2005, that drama supposedly starred Kevin Cheng and Jessica Hsuan as its main leads and is set in the modern days. The end product, however, was totally opposite where the main leads were Vincent Zhao, Raymond Lam, Melissa Ng and Myolie Wu. Even the settings were during the Republican era in China and not modern day Hong Kong. To round up its differences, The Master of Tai Chi was aired in 2008 and not 2005. There are also dramas where the actors or actresses in the Presentation were replaced just like in the case of Nick Cheung in “Heaven and Earth”.
Okay into TVB Sales Presentation 2010. It only has ten dramas where some it already completed its production and also some are still in pre-production stage. Out of the ten, I am keenly waiting for The Mysteries of Love and also Rosy Business II (tentative title).

The Mysteries of Love finished its filming two months ago. I am very confident TVB will not push the airing date to 2011 or beyond. Why? Because this drama starred its most bankable and popular actor Raymond Lam. After a year of absence from the television industry to concentrate on singing career, despite achieving a career-high popularity through Moonlight Resonance in 2008 to the point that he is a serious contender for the TV King title (eventually, he lost out to Ha Yu), Raymond Lam is back! This year he only filmed two dramas for next year’s screenings as he is occupied with concerts and new album which yielded great amount of success. The TV Prince is back with two great dramas; Growing Through Life (a 30 episodes blockbuster collaboration between TVB and Shanghai’s SMG) and The Mysteries of Love. Other casts in this The Mysteries of Love are Tavia Yeung, Kenneth Ma and Bernice Liu. Finally, my favourite Raymond’s on-screen partner, Tavia is joining forces again with her classmate in TVB 13th Acting Class back in 1998. I never like to see Raymond and Linda Chung together. If you ask me, I will stick to my argument that Raymond’s best on-screen partners are Michelle Yip (they collaborated in Eternal Happiness and Lofty Waters Verdant Bow) and Tavia Yeung (Twin of Brothers). This drama revolved around the themes of paranormal activities and also astrophysics plus crime investigations. Inspired by the Japanese manga; Detective Galileo, Raymond will be the intelligent professor while Tavia is acting as a tough police officer. The Mysteries of Love reminded me of two Gallen Lo’s dramas which shared almost similar themes (1997 The Mystery Files and 2003 The W Files).

The critically-acclaimed Rosy Business took home a lot of honours at the TVB 42nd Anniversary Awards but the decision to make an indirect sequel came earlier than that due to positive reception from viewers. It is currently the second highest rating dramas for 2009. The roles of Wayne Lai’s Chai Gau and Sheren Tang’s Hong Po Kei drew applause from TV critics for impressive performances and were justified when both of them were crowned as TV King and Queen respectively. Striking the iron while it is hot, TVB announced that an indirect sequel of Rosy Business will definitely feature in 2010. Scripts are still under development with both main leads has confirmed their participations while some of the casts will be replaced by other artistes. This indirect sequel is tentatively named as Rosy Business II and it is still in pre-production stage where principal filming will only start once the scripts are ready and the producer finalized the castings. Rosy Business II is set in the 1930s in Guangzhou where drugs and opium are the main factors of moral decline among the Chinese society. The Sales Presentation indicated that the timeline for events in Rosy Business II is stretched until the Japanese Occupation and eventually end of World War II. Among those starred in Part I but missing in Part II as suggested by the Presentations are Elliott Yue, Kiki Sheung, Ron Ng and Suki Chui, just to name a few. New notable inclusions are Fala Chen, Raymond Wong and Lau Kong.

TVB 42nd Anniversary Awards Night

TVB 42nd Anniversary Awards Night was held on 4th December. The biggest winners are Wayne Lai and Rosy Business. Wayne swept three individual awards which included The Best Actor Award thus confirming his status as the TV King 2009. Wayne’s winning drama Rosy Business returned home with as many awards as possible. Among the awards won by the drama; The Best Drama, The Best Actor (Wayne), The Best Actress (Sheren Tang), Best Supporting Actress (Susan Tse) and Most Improved Actor (Pierre Ngo). The drama Beyond The Realm of Conscience registered a historical joint-highest peaking rating points with 50 points joining the ranks of TVB 2008 Moonlight Resonance and Korean drama; Jewel In The Palace 2005. Nevertheless this drama set in Tang Dynasty returned with just a meager one award, courtesy of Tavia Yeung through My Favourite TV Female Character Award. Rosy Business is currently second highest rating drama behind Beyond The Realm of Conscience for this year and both dramas are expected to retain their 1-2 finish after Born Rich completed its run next week.

Top to Bottom : Lee Tim Shing, the producer for the Best Drama Award winner Rosy Business, and Sheren Tang with Wayne Lai (the TV Queen and King respectively for 2009)
The Awards Night was filled with laughter and great celebration for the winners despite the race for most of the awards can be considered over once the nomination list came out on last October especially for the major awards where many predicted that Rosy Business will be the runaway favourites. It was great to see some of the veterans and also ex-TVB artistes graced the stage as award presenters and bantering all the way much to the delight of the artistes, TVB executives and spectators.

Top to Bottom : Koni Lui with Joe Ma, Tavia Yeung, Moses Chan and Charmaine Sheh
Of all the TVB actors, I like the fashion displayed by Wayne Lai the most. Nice dark suits and long pants to be matched with striking hairstyle. Tavia Yeung stood out as the most elegant actress with the blue gown despite keeping a very short hairstyle. In last year’s Anniversary Awards, I also liked Tavia’s fashion the most and she definitely pushed her elegance to another level for this year. This is not a bias judgment from me although Tavia is my favourite TVB actress among the new generation fa dans.

Top to Bottom : First photo (Wong Cho Lam, Chin Ka Lok and Louis Yuen), Second photo (Koni Lui and Sharon Chan), Third photo (Michael Tse, Lisa Wang, Joe Ma and Kenneth Ma), Fourth photo (Louise Lee and Moses Chan), Fifth photo (Linda Chung, Ron Ng and Fala Chen) and Sixth photo (Charmaine Sheh, Kevin Cheng and Tavia)
There were a lot of award presenters on that night but I only like five of them namely Richard Ng, Liu Kai Chi, Law Kar Ying, Felix Wong and Nick Cheung. I was so shocked to see Richard Ng is so old and frail whereas his once on-screen “partner in crime”, Eric Tsang aged gracefully and continues to reign as the King of Game Show via his Super Trio Series. I remembered I enjoyed watching Richard’s movies especially the comedies which he starred alongside with Eric Tsang, Stanley Fung, Sammo Hung, John Sham and et cetera in the 80s and early 90s. Their comedy movies tickled the viewers’ bones with off-the-cuff jokes and parodies. Richard Ng presented The Best Game Show Host(s) Awards to the winners; Eric Tsang, Chin Ka Lok, Louis Yuen and Wong Cho Lam. It was nice to see Richard Ng presented the award to his long-time buddy Eric where the latter played hide-and-seek with him on the stage before receiving the award.

Top to Bottom : Richard Ng presenting The Best Game Show Host(s) Award and the eventual winners : Wong Cho Lam, Chin Ka Lok, Eric Tsang and Louis Yuen
Liu Kai Chi and Law Kar Ying jointly presented The Best Supporting Actor and Actress Awards to Michael Tse (E.U.) and Susan Tse (Rosy Business) respectively. Both Uncle Chi and Law Kar Ying enjoyed chatting together and interacted perfectly with the artistes and audiences. They slotted in some jokes where Kar Ying became the main teasing point over his new role as Lisa Wang’s husband. Kar Ying sportingly accepted the jokes and Lisa Wang tried her best to keep herself from laughing as her husband cheekily talked about their wedding and also life as a couple.

Top to Bottom : Michael Tse (Best Supporting Actor) and Susan Tse (Best Supporting Actress)
Felix Wong touched on the criteria to become a favourite female character among the viewers where it is not necessary to play good but also evil roles too. He is the luckiest presenter out there on that night because his wish was granted immediately on the rostrum. Tavia Yeung received My Favourite TV Female Character Award from Felix. In her acceptance speech, she thanked everyone for their support and the opportunities given to her by them. She wanted Charmaine Sheh to kiss her as a promise made earlier on should she wins the award. Charmaine immediately walked to the rostrum and kissed her. Felix tried to be naughty and told Tavia that he wanted a kiss from the winner too. Tavia asked him not to be hesitant before straightly gave the “prize” to Felix much to the delight of their fellow colleagues and TVB executives.

Tavia with her My Favourite TV Female Character Award
The funnyman Nick Cheung definitely came out of age. He is now The Film King of Hong Kong. His hard work in the film industry after leaving TVB was rewarded by winning The Best Actor Award in this year’s Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA) and also again for the same award but this time in the Oscar-alike Golden Horse Award through the movie Beast Stalker where he played the role as an assassin. I am very happy for him to finally get the recognition from movie industry. Who can forget his comedic role in Wong Jing’s gambling movies that send all the movie-goers to laughters via his jokes and actions? When he was at TVB, I like his excellent portrayals especially as the rich bastard Kam Leong Wan in Secret of The Heart (1998 – he won The Most Promising Actor Award on that year’s Anniversary Gala), smart and intelligent legendary scholar Tong Pak Fu (2000 – The Legendary Four Aces, a drama that revived the interest among viewers on the Chinese literature during the Ming Dynasty and also marked the one and only collaboration between Nick and his wife, Esther Kwan as a couple in a drama) and lastly the heroic and talented Dr Wong Po Fun (2004 – The Last Breakthrough, one of the most touching dramas ever made by TVB). He presented The Best Actress Award to Sheren Tang. Before that, as he walked to the stage and reached the podium, he greeted all the TVB actors and actresses in a highly respected manner despite the fact that most of them are of new generation and only a handful of them left in the company that once worked with him before. They also greeted and cheered for him with respect. It seems like he came unprepared to the Awards Night and has to rely on two scripted papers. He puts the papers on the rostrum and read it from time to time, much to the amusements of his fellow colleagues and audiences. He was talking about the feelings from being nominated until the crowning moments from his own perspective. He casually shared his experiences and waved both papers to signal that he still has a lot of things to talk about but was asked to cut short by emcee Dodo Cheng. It is a waste that Nick Cheung is not going to feature in “Heaven and Earth” although he filmed the sales presentation clip last year alongside with Bowie Lam, Moses Chan, Charmaine Sheh, Sheren Tang and Maggie Siu. In the presentation clip 2009, the drama seemed to be a very good one and has the potential to be a blockbuster hit for TVB with great scenes about politics, money laundering, murders, love complications and cannibalism. After winning The Best Actor Award in the HKFA, Nick Cheung’s schedule was packed with numerous offers from the movie industry thus forcing him to drop out from the castings of Heaven and Earth.

The presenter for Best Actress Award : Nick Cheung
The sittings for the TVB actors are quite unique if one pays attention to it. Check out that the front row was occupied by all the TV Kings and also that night’s TV King. Kevin Cheng (2006 winner), Wayne Lai (this year’s winner), Bowie Lam (2004 winner), Moses Chan (2007 winner) and Roger Kwok (2003 and 2005 winners) sat together in front and casually shared the limelight with their fellow colleagues. Whereas the sittings for TVB actresses were a little bit mix and match between TV Queens and potential TV Queens with the highly respected Big Sister Lisa Wang (2001 and 2005 winners) sharing the front row with Charmaine Sheh (2006 winner), Sheren Tang (this year’s winner), Michelle Yim (2008 winner), Louise Lee (2007 winner), Susanna Kwan (2007 My Most Favourite TV Female Character winner) and Tavia Yeung (this year’s My Most Favourite TV Female Character, 2003 Most Improved Actress and 2008 Best Supporting Actress winners).

As expected, Wayne Lai took home The Best Actor Award at the TVB 42nd Anniversary Awards Night. His excellent portrayal as Chai Gau in Rosy Business is the overwhelming favourite to win the coveted award. Sheren Tang completed a double for Rosy Business by nailing The Best Actress Award. It was triple when Wayne Lai also won My Favourite TV Male Character Award. By end of the night, it was quadruple for Rosy Business by winning The Best Drama Award too. All in all, Wayne Lai was the biggest winner with four awards which included tvb.com Popular Artist Award (based on number of hits for TVB artistes’ blogs). With that, Wayne Lai is the TV King for the year 2009 and Sheren Tang as the TV Queen succeeding Ha Yu and Michelle Yim respectively; last year’s winners.
Recently I added a lot of new friends on Facebook. The number was almost 20 all thanks to my active involvement in discussions on Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat’s Facebook. We all had a lot of constructive discussions there. I did not expect almost all of my views were accepted by the people there with praises and credits. Some of them were even surprised to know I am only 24 years old but very well-versed on national politics and general knowledge. Some of my new friends are over 45 years old but age is not a barrier for us to communicate and exchange opinions on the current political issues in the country. There were people sending private messages to my Facebook praising me for my honest and articulate views. They also asked me to join a forum with the Minister in an arranged time and place. In fact now if I don’t post anything on Datuk Seri’s Facebook, people there will ask where I have been because they wanted to read my latest views on the latest developments. I love the atmosphere there although sometimes it could be tense just like what I always encountered on Tun Dr Mahathir’s Facebook. I added Datuk Seri on Facebook ever since I read a news report on The Star that he has a Facebook page on late September.
I am still in Ipoh now since 25th November and will be in my beloved hometown until next Tuesday morning. All the classes for this week were cancelled by lecturers as they have their official commitments at UPSI and UM. The good thing is that I can enjoy measuring the land in Ipoh like a king. But the bad thing is that I am very lazy to continue my assignments and preparing for presentations. I never touch it at all since the day I reached Ipoh until yesterday. The dateline for the first assignment is on next Thursday but I have total confidence on myself to get it done on time because the topic, in fact all of the topics for assignments, is my forte. To get excellent grades, it all boils down to my commitment and not knowledge because I have it all in my mind already. My lazyness in getting the job done as soon as possible caught the attention of my partner-in-crime Mazni Ezura. We always chat in the class and make noises at the back. On MSN, both of us chatted about which classes to ponteng and also shared latest updates on assignments. She cheekily said that she respected me for my lazyness. She can spend more than 5 hours a day on games in Facebook especially Café World and FarmVille..hehe..I like to talk to her because I have high regards on her and she is the most outstanding Malay girl in my class. I really respect her because she will go back to her hometown in Kuantan every week without fail.
Eight days away from going to Seremban for my National Integrity campaign! Can’t really wait for the day to come!

Reviews for TVB 2008 Moonlight Resonance, TVB 2009 Born Rich and etc will be posted in my Blogspot as I am reducing my dependence on Friendster Blog. As you can read in previous posts, the contents are getting shorter and fewer details were put forth here. My Blogspot will officially kicks off on January 2010. Now I am doing test-blog there to get used to all the features. Brief updates are posted in my Blogspot and will be deleted when the official first post is up on next January.
Okay, I am really mad at RTM2 for cancelling the broadcast of GoGo Sentai Boukenger without any notice. Now they are airing Power Ranger Jungle Fury (adapted from Boukenger’s successor – Juken Sentai Gekiranger). Therefore, the last count of Boukenger episodes on RTM2 was at 26. I am really angry because I enjoyed Boukenger despite watching it for the second time until RTM2 abruptly threw a spanner to it. Anyway, I will not victimize Jungle Fury because I want to watch that too.
I am in Ipoh since last Wednesday and will be driving back to Tanjung Malim tomorrow to start Week 5 of Semester 2. Time flies so fast and I am now less than six months away from completing my post-graduate course at UPSI. But I must say I have the best time in my life and I like the environment there compared to UTAR. Somehow, it provides consolation to me after “wasting” three years of my life at UTAR. On 12th and 13th December, I will be going to Seremban for my National Integrity project. Nineteen of my classmates are in the same group for this assignment where we have to participate in the communal activities organized by the villagers there.
One of the two TVB Anniversary Dramas concluded its airing last night. Beyond The Realm of Conscience ended after 33 episodes. It produced good ratings but according to the rating reports until Episode 25, the expectation for it to beat the benchmark set this year by Rosy Business fell short. Viewers and TVB executives are waiting for the final episode’s ratings to determine whether it can deliver results that can eclipse the phenomenal TVB 2008 Moonlight Resonance. With that, only Born Rich left as the Anniversary Drama. The drama is getting better after blasting off the block with five great episodes before it went a little bit downhill in the next fifteen. Born Rich is slowly building up the anticipation for a tight finale. Hopefully the ending will not disappoint because its ratings dropped steadily every week.
19th December is Raymond Lam’s first ever large scale concert in Malaysia. It will be held in The Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands. Almost all the tickets were snapped up by Raymond’s fans. Siew Meyy holds 20 free tickets with seats that offered the best views and she has distributed it to her friends and relatives. She is generous to share it despite she is going to miss the concert as she is still in Africa for mission works on that day. Nevertheless, she already went for Raymond’s first ever concert in Hong Kong few months ago and enjoyed there. Her blog about the adventures of touring dangerous areas in African countries can really send the readers into suspense and fear because she is really crazy for doing crazy things. Her mother must be really worried of her when she reads the blog..haha..She is coming back to Malaysia on the week before Christmas and will begin her job as a doctor in Hospital Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh on January 2010.

RM49.90! That is how much I owed Wee Chia Wen over a birthday gift. I dun even know what she bought for that price. Happy Birthday to Sannie. Her birthday is on today. They will be celebrating it in KL with their friends. Siew Meyy is having the greatest moment of her life in Africa. Therefore, she will miss the birthday party. Gua memang tak bercadang meraikan bersama mereka kerana malas nak pergi KL. I have a week long Hari Raya Haji holiday. As usual, I am in Ipoh now. Sannie’s birthday puts an end to the birthday galore for all my friends this month. Memang banyak orang dilahirkan pada bulan November and I am one of them.
November is approaching its end. The month of December is just two days away. In the final two weeks of December, I will do a round-up of my life for this year in a two-part story. Basically it is a summary for my blog content here in the past eleven months and also the upcoming December.
Raymond Lam will be holding a large scale concert on 19th Dec in Genting Highlands. Before Siew Meyy left Malaysia for her Africa mission trip, she gave out tickets to Chia Wen and Sannie. That two girls are happy to have a jolly good night of Lam Fung-holics. Ini yang buat gua dengki.

This will be a short and simple post. Three paragraphs to do the trick (excluding this one).
With TVB 42nd Anniversary Awards are now less than two weeks away, the race for the title TV King and Queen actually did not really heated up. All TVB fans and critics are putting their money on Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang to bring home the prestigious Best Actor and Actress Awards respectively for their brilliant performances in Rosy Business. For The Best Actor Award, the race was over even before the nomination list came out because Wayne Lai turned on an exhilarating display as Chai Gau in the drama much to the likings and applause by viewers. Regardless on how his challengers perform in their respective dramas, the money is always on Wayne Lai to finally nail the long-awaited award as a recognition for his great actings. Whereas for Sheren Tang, she is the leading contender for The Best Actress Award. Although she is not as overwhelming favourite as her counterpart Wayne, many believe it is her turn to be crowned as the TV Queen after she was denied the same award in 2004 for her role in War and Beauty despite giving the needed performance as Concubine Yu (That year, it was Gigi Lai won the award). Her only worthy competitors are the two leading female casts for Beyond The Realm of Conscience; Charmaine Sheh and Tavia Yeung. Rumours had it that TVB are promoting Tavia by giving her the evil role to get the award but Tavia has mentioned she is still too young and supported Sheren to win the award. Nevertheless, both Charmaine and Tavia are the darkhorses with Sheren as the favourite. If predictions and anticipations are true where Sheren to win The Best Actress Award then it is highly possible for Tavia to bring home The Most Favourite Female Character Award with Charmaine providing the much-needed challenge.
I have started my Blogspot. Although there is no post yet over there, I have finished with the design. The first post shall see its light on January 2010. Friendster Blog will still be active but it is my new Blogspot that will provide all the news on everything. In-depth and detailed blog will be put up at Blogspot where this Friendster Blog will only provide smaller scale of information on every posts that I am going to do. In other words, what people can read in Friendster Blog is not as complete as the one in Blogspot. So far, I only gave my Blogspot link to four people. If you want that link, tell me and I will send it to you. The reasons I shifted my attention Blogspot : I am running out of bandwidth in Friendster Blog and it is time for me to blog in a much serious but sometimes funny tones because I want to pen down my thoughts on various issues surrounding me. Those issues could be politics, sports, current issues, history and drama reviews (TVB and others).
TVB 42nd Anniversary Award will be held on 4th December. To create the anticipation and excitement, I asked my brother to give me all the previous years of TVB Anniversary Awards and also TVB Anniversary Galas since early 2000. I watched those awards and galas before but it is good to bring back the nostalgic feelings of yesteryears. Seeing Gallen Lo (2002), Louis Koo (2001), Roger Kwok (2003 and 2005), Bowie Lam (2004), Kevin Cheng (2006), Moses Chan (2007) and Ha Yu (2008) triumphed in The Best Actor Awards while Lisa Wang (2001 and 2005), Flora Chan (2002), Maggie Cheung (2003), Gigi Lai (2004), Charmaine Sheh (2006), Louise Lee (2007) and Michelle Yim (2008) won The Best Actress Awards plus other major subsidiary awards for other winners which included Best Supporting Actor and Actresses Awards, Most Favourite Male and Female Character Awards and Most Improved Actor and Actress Awards, just to name a few. On 19th November, TVB held its Anniversary Gala and I have watched it already. Great songs, performances and skits in the gala by all TVB actors and actresses. I have voted for all the awards at TVB official website. It was fun and thrilling to vote for your favourite TVB artistes for the awards ceremony. Voting ends on 29th November. For the first time since 2001, Raymond Lam will not be having even one drama to contest in any awards this year. Nevertheless, he is still one of the most, if not the most, bankable TVB actor by organising successful concerts in June this year. In 2010, he is slated to appear in two dramas.

Memang kena hypnotized by this English song in TVB 2008 Born Rich. Liriknya begitu mengasyikkan dan melodinya pula senang membuat para pendengar berasa teruja.
I am now in Tanjung Malim. By 9pm later, I will be in Ipoh until Tuesday morning. Macam tu lar hidup gua jika diberi cuti yang panjang. Any opportunities to go back hometown must be snatched immediately. Memandangkan sekarang masih dapat balik ke kampung, balik saja lar. Lain kali kena dihantar pergi ke Kepulauan Borneo untuk berkhidmat, jangan katakan nak sebut perkataan balik, bahkan fikirkan perkataan itu pun jangan sesekali..hehe..Malas pergi KL because there is nothing for me to do if I go. It is always good to go back Ipoh.
I am sick again! Two weeks ago, gua mengalami batuk, selsema dan juga sakit tekak. Last Sunday, I went to see doctor. He was surprised that I went to his clinic for the same reasons. My cough is getting really bad despite taking the medicines. Boleh batuk dengan begitu teruk sehingga nak muntah dan juga kepala berasa sakit yang teramat sangat. My flu is like yo-yo. Adakala selsema itu begitu teruk sehingga hidung tersumbat. Tapi ada kala selsema itu tak lar begitu teruk. This easily placed me in the high risk group of people with potential H1N1 symptoms..hehe..Hopefully I can get well soon because memang menyeksakan dan juga membimbangkan to have this kind of illnesses as the world is battling the H1N1. I can’t afford to fall sick now because I have a lot of assignments and presentations for this semester.
This semester I only have 4 subjects. But the volume of assignments, projects and presentations are a lot in terms of quantity. For projects, I was the first to refuse the presidential position because of large amount of workloads are waiting for the leader to tackle. I had my fair share of it in the previous semester. I told my coursemates that I don’t want to be president for whatever projects in this semester because I have already proved myself and there is no need to do it again. Let other people to lead the team. Nevertheless, I still cannot run away from important position. I was appointed to be the chief of logistics and also acting vice president. My group is involved in a community project for National Integrity subject. We are going to Seremban, Negeri Sembilan for the Projek Anak Angkat. It is a 2 days, 1 night trip there. We will be in a village there for this project on 12th and 13th December. Hopefully, I can do a great job in this project because it carries 50% of our Finals marks. The best thing is that my favourite coursemate; Mazni Ezura is my group member again! Perempuan ini memang happening.
Okay itu pasal projek!
Although I have a lot of assignments and presentations, I welcome it with open arms. All the subjects are my forte and interest. Among the topics regardless of the subjects are Vision 2020, Money Politics, Economic Growth in Malaysia, just to name a few. Moga-moga gua dapat mencatatkan markah yang tinggi supaya tak perlu memerah kudrat ketika peperiksaan kelak. With this batch of subjects, this semester is only for me to lose it. If I cannot get good results then I can only blame myself because there is no way for me to throw away such a golden opportunity to do what many people expected me to do; to score in all the subjects of my forte and interest. So far I am on the right track by starting it early despite the heavy commitment for the Seremban project is draining much of my time. Nevertheless, that is not an excuse for me to fail because it is part and parcels of life.
This Sunday at 10.03am, RTM2 will be airing Task 26 of GoGo Sentai Boukenger! The title for this episode is The Glass Slipper! It is about Sakura becoming Cinderella thus discarding her usual trademark of donning the SGS uniform! She is very elegant in the gown as Cinderella. Out of 49 tasks plus 3 movies of Boukenger, it is less than 5 times where Sakura putting on different outfits than the usual SGS jackets. Also in Task 26, it is also revealed that Sakura is the heiress to her family business but ran away to join the Self-Defence Force (thus explaining her capabilities of handling machines and weaponries in battlefield) before Akashi coaxed her to join Boukenger.
I am adopting a new image. My UPSI coursemates are surprised but liked it. It was influenced by Gallen Lo’s image at the beginning of TVB 2009 Born Rich. Dia menyimpan janggut. I tried his style of keeping beard but Gallen did not have moustache at all whereas I am keeping moustache. Together with the dark complexion of my skin (kulit gua memang bertambah gelap semenjak berada di UPSI kerana banyak melibatkan diri dalam akitiviti luaran), I looked so different and my UPSI coursemates said I have the potential to be a Malay guy..hehe
I still have no news on Siew Meyy. This girl is in Africa for over a week already. I know she is safe and sound there. Gua cuma berharap dia tu tahu menjaga diri dengan sebaik mungkin and becareful with her surroundings there. Sannie’s birthday is on 28th November. I am not celebrating her birthday as I will be in Ipoh for the 1-week break due to Hari Raya Haji. This girl pun takkan balik to Ipoh and prefers to be in KL because she has heavy workloads from her workplace; PwC. But I know Chia Wen definitely celebrates with Sannie. Both of them will be in KL on the last week of November as the year is approaching its tail-end. It is understandable that they will have a lot of reports to complete and submit be it in PwC or Bank Negara (for Chia Wen). They still have Amirah to toy with who is currently working at the Treasury in Putrajaya.

More than a week since I last updated this blog.
PBSM stands NOT for Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah but Pasti Balik Setiap Minggu. My housemates teased me as the chairman of PBSM because gua pasti balik kampung menjelang hujung minggu. They know I will surely go back, be it by driving or boarding the KTM train, right after the last class of the week and will only reach Tanjung Malim an hour or two before the first class of the following week. Inilah kehebatan gua yang tiada lagi tandingan..haha
I am now in Ipoh and will be here until Tuesday morning. Kebanyakan pensyarah memanipulasi jadual waktu untuk keselesaan mereka. Ada juga di kalangan kita yang meminta untuk meletakkan semua kelas kuliah dalam tempoh tiga hari sahaja dalam seminggu. Now, my lecture classes are only from Tuesday afternoon until Thursday evening.
She is very bubbly and lively. Selain itu, dia bercakap secara terus apa yang terlintas pada fikiran dia tu. I always like to have her as group member in assignments or projects because of her personality and also creativity. Among all the Malay girls in my class, Mazni is the most craziest and liveliest. Memang moden perempuan ini. She was my secretary during the last semester’s tri-events. She and I always have good chats in the class on many topics and also on MSN where we can sembang about assignments, exam tips and leisure activities. She saw me before in GSC Mid Valley helping my staffs at the Concession counter when she and her boyfriend came to watch movie. Kononnya I was very polite when I served her in the counter. Betul ke gua pernah bertemu dengan dia? I dunno coz when I was working at GSC Mid Valley for 8 months, gua menolong di seluruh pelusuk pawagam. Some of my UPSI coursemates also said they saw me before when I told them I was the former Assistant Cinema Manager there. Maybe they knew, remembered and talked to me before but I don’t coz I encountered and dealt with many customers throughout that 8 months.
Blog gua ini makin lama, makin lesu. Makin lama, makin membosankan. Ini adalah satu fakta yang gua tidak akan nafikan. It is getting more and more predictable and no longer has the “stint” that once made it so influential, controversial and center of hot discussions/arguments. I am too busy with studies and my life thus lack of time to furnish this blog making it less appealing.
Siew Meyy is not in Malaysia now. Only Gods know where in the world that Miss Chin Siew Meyy is. She is on a humanitarian mission work in Africa until the week before Christmas. Ini perempuan memang sukakan cabaran dan gemar menimba pengalaman yang bermakna dalam hidupnya. Hidupnya ibarat seorang pengembara yang luar biasa. With this latest foray to another continent for a noble cause, Siew Meyy adds another feather to her cap. Extraordinary feat indeed with impressive academic and society background. She is set to start her career as a doctor in January 2010 in Hospital Permaisuri Bainun.
Tiadanya Siew Meyy di sisi gua bermakna Wee Chia Wen is my “toy” to toy with from now until Siew Meyy’s return..haha..To tell the truth, for the past two years, I met more, went out more, fooled around more and many many more with Chia Wen than Siew Meyy. One thing about Chia Wen is that she is playful, hyperactive and crazy. I never considered her as a beautiful girl because I really think she is cute and sweet for her age. She, Siew Meyy and Sannie are best friends for so many years. That’s why they shared almost same traits and personality.

363rd Post
If I am still working at GSC, 3rd November marks my 1st anniversary there as the Cinema Assistant Manager. But it was not meant to be as I opted to further my studies. Nevertheless, I was happy to be a part of the cinema industry. I learnt a lot of things and met with a lot of distinguished people. 3rd November is also my birthday. Let’s do something new for the post about my birthday. I am not going to talk about my birthday celebration that blardy long–winded just like the previous two years.
Semester 2 started on Monday and I only have 4 subjects (15 credit hours) compared to 7 (17 credit hours) in the previous semester. Practicum which is due to start on March 2010 offers 8 credit hours and total altogether is 40 credit hours. I like this semester because the timetable is really “kind” to me. I dun have classes on Friday and that means I can go back Ipoh on Thursday afternoon once the last class of the week ends. I even like this semester when all the subjects offered are about the course I am enrolled in which is Pengajian Am. The subjects are on Contemporary Issues, Public Policies and Politics, and National Integrity. All these subjects are of my interests and expertise. The only thing I dun like the timetable is that I have 8am classes on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday! Gua ni memang pantang dan malas bangun pada awal pagi. It is time to set a very high academic target for this semester compared to the previous one because I can deliver the goods and the subjects should pose no problems to me. I do have a feeling that I can get at least 3A this semester. But talk is cheap. Action and results are what matter most. Maka dengan itu, Let’s Power Up! This is one bouken that must not be taken lightly because the Precious are waiting for me to collect it. Start Up!
Two days of birthday celebration with Siew Meyy, Chia Wen, Sannie and my housemates. Inilah kali pertama gua meraikan harijadi di Tanjung Malim setelah meraikannya 4 tahun sebelumnya secara beturut-turut di Lembah Klang.
First celebration was on 2nd November in Rawang. Siew Meyy, Amirah, Razlan, Chia Wen, Desmond and Sannie celebrated my birthday there. Siew Meyy came from Ipoh to Tanjung Malim and both of us with Razlan drove to Rawang. The rest of them came from KL and PJ. Kami bertujuh tidak lar buat banyak benda. They shared together to buy a big cake for me. Dah lama tak jumpa Amirah and lagi lama tak jumpa Desmond. Whereas from time to time I bumped to Razlan in Tanjung Malim coz he is a tutor at UPSI. Nasib baik dia tak menjadi pensyarah gua. Pasti dia muntah darah kerana I am really rebellious in class and famous for creating troubles for lecturers. Basically, this outing is more on gathering than a birthday celebration because some of us did not meet each other for a very long time already. From 6pm until 10.30pm, we were in a dining outlet in Rawang for makan and sembang. Lepas tu, kami balik ke destinasi masing-masing. Siew Meyy, Razlan and I reached Tanjung Malim at about 11.30pm. Razlan went back to his own house in Proton City while Siew Meyy and I balik ke rumah gua.
Second celebration was on my actual birthday = 3rd November. This time only Siew Meyy, Razlan and Chia Wen plus a few of my coursemates and housemates in three separate celebrations from evening until night. Here, I will only focus on the celebration with my best friends but I want to say thank you to my housemates and coursemates too for the other two celebrations. Chia Wen purposely came to Tanjung Malim after work at Bank Negara in Kuala Lumpur. The theme for this celebration was “Wet” coz it was held besides the Proton Lake. As usual, makan itu adalah sesuatu yang mandatori. But we did it the picnic style coz the location is right beside the lake in Proton City. I am still suffering from cough and sore throat but that two girls memang ganas dan kejam sebab mencampak gua ke dalam tasik manakala Razlan tak tolong langsung sebab dia syok tengok gua kena “dicabul” oleh dua perempuan tersebut. Some of my coursemates saw the four of us having fun at the lakeside. Just like any other friends of mine that saw Siew Meyy, my coursemates concluded that she is really beautiful while Chia Wen is cute..haha..Nak pecah perut bila dengar orang kata Chia Wen tu comel!
Thanks to all for their birthday wishes in Facebook, SMS and phone calls. I appreciated it. For me, birthday celebrations and birthday presents are not important as I dun crave for both either. A simple birthday wish is more than enough for me. To those who wished me on Facebook, I have replied all of your wishes but there was one I did not reply and some I deleted their wishes coz I had some problems with them yet they pretended to be hypocrite. For those wished me via SMS, thank you especially Celina coz she was the only one from UTAR PR5 to do that. Thank you to Debbie too for calling me for the same purpose but she was more creative by singing birthday song to me just like how she did on the year before. Dia tu sememangnya kawan gua paling baik di UTAR and this is followed by Jennifer Chang and Celina Chin! For the rest of them especially my former schoolmates in Anderson, terima kasih banyak-banyak atas ucapan melalui Facebook dan SMS kerana semua ucapan tu penuh dengan makna melalui perkataan-perkataan yang disampaikan itu.
For my practicum that begins on March 2010, I have three choices : My alma mater (Anderson), Seri Putera and Hulu Kinta. Memang dah pasti gua akan memilih Anderson kerana gua mempunyai semangat yang setia dan bangga dengan sekolah tersebut. I spent 7 wonderful years there as a teenager. Hopefully my application to teach in Anderson will be accepted because I am more used to the school culture there. Choosing Anderson as my first choice is not without teasing. Chia Wen tahu gua mempunyai niat tersembunyi untuk memilih Anderson. She said I picked Anderson because of Siew Meyy. Okay! To a certain extent, I admitted to Chia Wen’s accusation. Siew Meyy will begin her work as a doctor in Hospital Besar Ipoh (now known as Hospital Permaisuri Bainun) on January 2010. The hospital is situated opposite to Anderson and all it takes is just an overhead bridge to connect both landmarks where the distance is not even 100 metres. Memandangkan Siew Meyy akan mula bertugas di hospital tersebut yang begitu dekat dengan Anderson, I see no reason why I should let go of a golden opportunity to stick with her..hehe..If she is working morning shift, then we can go to work together and also for lunch. Walau bagaimanapun, segala perancangan nampak macam gempak tapi gua masih juga perlu menunggu kata putus daripada pihak universiti dan tiga sekolah berkenaan untuk praktikum gua.
On next Wednesday, Siew Meyy will be leaving Malaysia for Africa to attend a humanitarian mission trip under MSF with a contingent of about 30 individuals such as doctors, nurses and surgeons. She will be back home in Malaysia before Christmas. I wonder what is she going to do there kerana dia belum lagi merupakan doktor bertauliah. Mungkin pergi sana jadi kuli aje. She will be there for six weeks and that means for six weeks we are not going to see each other and the chances of communicating are slim too due to lack of infrastructure there. She promised to us that she will try her very best to look for Internet connection to send emails reporting her whereabouts and current condition there on every Saturday. This girl is adventurous and always be the first one to volunteer herself for community and charity works. The best part is that there is no objection from her parents and they encouraged her to go! I really respect Siew Meyy’s parents because they are very confident and always believe she knows how to take care of herself regardless of where she is and what she is doing. They never dispute her decisions despite the daughter is going far away for noble causes with unknown people and instead they supported her wholeheartedly as long as she promised to take good care of herself and keep in contact with them.
