363rd Post
If I am still working at GSC, 3rd November marks my 1st anniversary there as the Cinema Assistant Manager. But it was not meant to be as I opted to further my studies. Nevertheless, I was happy to be a part of the cinema industry. I learnt a lot of things and met with a lot of distinguished people. 3rd November is also my birthday. Let’s do something new for the post about my birthday. I am not going to talk about my birthday celebration that blardy long–winded just like the previous two years.
Semester 2 started on Monday and I only have 4 subjects (15 credit hours) compared to 7 (17 credit hours) in the previous semester. Practicum which is due to start on March 2010 offers 8 credit hours and total altogether is 40 credit hours. I like this semester because the timetable is really “kind” to me. I dun have classes on Friday and that means I can go back Ipoh on Thursday afternoon once the last class of the week ends. I even like this semester when all the subjects offered are about the course I am enrolled in which is Pengajian Am. The subjects are on Contemporary Issues, Public Policies and Politics, and National Integrity. All these subjects are of my interests and expertise. The only thing I dun like the timetable is that I have 8am classes on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday! It is time to set a very high academic target for this semester compared to the previous one because I can deliver the goods and the subjects should pose no problems to me. I do have a feeling that I can get at least 3A this semester. But talk is cheap. Action and results are what matter most. Maka dengan itu, Let’s Power Up! This is one bouken that must not be taken lightly because the Precious are waiting for me to collect it. Start Up!
Two days of birthday celebration with Siew Meyy, Chia Wen, Sannie and my housemates.
First celebration was on 2nd November in Rawang. Siew Meyy, Amirah, Razlan, Chia Wen, Desmond and Sannie celebrated my birthday there. Siew Meyy came from Ipoh to Tanjung Malim and both of us with Razlan drove to Rawang. The rest of them came from KL and PJ. Kami bertujuh tidak lar buat banyak benda. They shared together to buy a big cake for me. Dah lama tak jumpa Amirah and lagi lama tak jumpa Desmond. Whereas from time to time I bumped to Razlan in Tanjung Malim coz he is a tutor at UPSI. Nasib baik dia tak menjadi pensyarah gua. Pasti dia muntah darah kerana I am really rebellious in class and famous for creating troubles for lecturers. Basically, this outing is more on gathering than a birthday celebration because some of us did not meet each other for a very long time already. From 6pm until 10.30pm, we were in a dining outlet in Rawang for makan and sembang. Lepas tu, kami balik ke destinasi masing-masing. Siew Meyy, Razlan and I reached Tanjung Malim at about 11.30pm. Razlan went back to his own house in Proton City while Siew Meyy and I balik ke rumah gua.
Second celebration was on my actual birthday = 3rd November. This time only Siew Meyy, Razlan and Chia Wen plus a few of my coursemates and housemates in three separate celebrations from evening until night. Here, I will only focus on the celebration with my best friends but I want to say thank you to my housemates and coursemates too for the other two celebrations. Chia Wen purposely came to Tanjung Malim after work at Bank Negara in Kuala Lumpur. The theme for this celebration was “Wet” coz it was held besides the Proton Lake. But we did it the picnic style coz the location is right beside the lake in Proton City. I am still suffering from cough and sore throat but that two girls memang ganas dan kejam sebab mencampak gua ke dalam tasik manakala Razlan tak tolong langsung sebab dia syok tengok gua kena “dicabul” oleh dua perempuan tersebut. Some of my coursemates saw the four of us having fun at the lakeside. Just like any other friends of mine that saw Siew Meyy, my coursemates concluded that she is really beautiful while Chia Wen is cute..haha..Nak pecah perut bila dengar orang kata Chia Wen tu comel!
Thanks to all for their birthday wishes in Facebook, SMS and phone calls. I appreciated it. For me, birthday celebrations and birthday presents are not important as I dun crave for both either. A simple birthday wish is more than enough for me. To those who wished me on Facebook, I have replied all of your wishes but there was one I did not reply and some I deleted their wishes coz I had some problems with them yet they pretended to be hypocrite. For those wished me via SMS, thank you especially Celina coz she was the only one from UTAR PR5 to do that. Thank you to Debbie too for calling me for the same purpose but she was more creative by singing birthday song to me just like how she did on the year before. Dia tu sememangnya kawan gua paling baik di UTAR and this is followed by Jennifer Chang and Celina Chin! For the rest of them especially my former schoolmates in Anderson, terima kasih banyak-banyak atas ucapan melalui Facebook dan SMS kerana semua ucapan tu penuh dengan makna melalui perkataan-perkataan yang disampaikan itu.
For my practicum that begins on March 2010, I have three choices : My alma mater (Anderson), Seri Putera and Hulu Kinta. I spent 7 wonderful years there as a teenager. Hopefully my application to teach in Anderson will be accepted because I am more used to the school culture there. Choosing Anderson as my first choice is not without teasing. Chia Wen tahu gua mempunyai niat tersembunyi untuk memilih Anderson. She said I picked Anderson because of Siew Meyy. Okay! To a certain extent, I admitted to Chia Wen’s accusation. Siew Meyy will begin her work as a doctor in Hospital Besar Ipoh (now known as Hospital Permaisuri Bainun) on January 2010. The hospital is situated opposite to Anderson and all it takes is just an overhead bridge to connect both landmarks where the distance is not even 100 metres. I see no reason why I should let go of a golden opportunity to stick with her..hehe..If she is working morning shift, then we can go to work together and also for lunch.
On next Wednesday, Siew Meyy will be leaving Malaysia for Africa to attend a humanitarian mission trip under MSF with a contingent of about 30 individuals such as doctors, nurses and surgeons. She will be back home in Malaysia before Christmas. I wonder what is she going to do there kerana dia belum lagi merupakan doktor bertauliah. Mungkin pergi sana jadi kuli aje. She will be there for six weeks and that means for six weeks we are not going to see each other and the chances of communicating are slim too due to lack of infrastructure there. She promised to us that she will try her very best to look for Internet connection to send emails reporting her whereabouts and current condition there on every Saturday. This girl is adventurous and always be the first one to volunteer herself for community and charity works. The best part is that there is no objection from her parents and they encouraged her to go! I really respect Siew Meyy’s parents because they are very confident and always believe she knows how to take care of herself regardless of where she is and what she is doing. They never dispute her decisions despite the daughter is going far away for noble causes with unknown people and instead they supported her wholeheartedly as long as she promised to take good care of herself and keep in contact with them.
